Where do I start?

I have a bulky luggage type of camera bag. While I LOVE it, and it is big enough for all of my gear, there are times that I won’t use all of that gear, and I don’t want to look like I am moving out of my house. I am sure that the neighbors think funny things, when once a week at least, they seem me walking out of my house, with a piece of luggage, throwing it in my car and driving off in a hurry.

There are times I just want to carry a cute bag. I mean, I may be a photographer, but I am also a woman!!! I want style people!!!

Oops, I didn’t answer the question-
I am not a professional photographer at all, but I love photography and consider it one of my hobbies. I have had a passion for it for the past ten years about and have loved using and getting to understand how to use my Canon Rebel T1i for the past two years. I take my camera with my everywhere, as this is the only camera I use to document my family’s life and also capture images that are beautiful to me.

I always been a hobbyist in photography but very recently took the plunge and bought myself a Canon 5D Mark II! Coincidentally I’ve got my eye on that 50mm prime lens too! I became inspired by photography quite early. I was one of those kids that always had a camera! ; )

How long have you been a photographer?
I am just starting out really. I purchased my camera about a year and a half ago. I’m attending the University of Toledo for photography, so with school bills I haven’t been able to invest in as much camera equipment as I would like. I would LOVE this giveaway!

What inspired you to become a photographer?
I’m not really sure what inspired me exactly. I have always been interested in photography. My parents got me a purple 35 mm camera when I was 7 and I wore it out. I’ve been in love ever since!

I have been doing photography for years, but have been professional for the last two years. I was always known to have a camera on me. Even in high school when the building actually caught on fire and we were all evacuated – I was the only one with a camera to capture it. (Luckily it was caught quickly with minimal damage) The part I like the best is capturing memories so they stand still forever. I was inspired by a friend of mine who became a photographer to really polish my love and learn to share my passion with others. I also find Pure Photography and Design to be a huge inspiration. How long have you been a photographer?
Ever since I could hold a camera, I’ve been taking pictures! After high school I was lucky enough to land a job as a photographers assistant, and a few years later I worked as a digital artist for another photographer. Finally in 2009 I started my own business Big Rock Photography and Design and have been pushing to succeed ever since!

What inspired you to become a photographer?
I love images… all types from baby toes to the rust on an old Ford bumper. I believe every captured image is a moment in time that can never be repeated. The blessing I have to be able to see and appreciate these little things is what has guided me to becoming a photographer.

How long have I been a photographer? Well, I have been taking pictures since I was 13 (I’m 25 now). I loved playing around in dark rooms where I would “dodge and burn” the old-school way. Still, I wouldn’t call myself a photographer. I didn’t know anything really about composition, lighting, or anything. I just had a camera and access to a dark room and so I shot and shot and shot, crossing my fingers and hoping I got at least one good frame. During college, I stopped taking pictures, and once I graduated, the DSLR craze was on. I realize how little I knew. Now that I’ve graduated, I have a better appreciation for the beauty I see in the people I met from all over the world. My inspiration now is to learn what I never knew about photography in high school so I can capture that beauty of which I currently have only mental pictures.

I started practicing photography my senior year of high school. I created my own business that offers low prices so everyone can enjoy great pictures without worrying about how much it cost. I am now a sophomore in college and I continue to shoot and use the money for school. I wish I had the extra time to take a photography class because I am mostly self taught. I’ve been a photographer since I took a picture of my mom and her brother when I was 7, intentionally cutting off their heads in the photo. I thought it was hilarious.

I was inspired to pursue it as my field of study/career because of the mountains I grew up in and the compassion I feel for people. I realized I could take good photos because of the mountains and realized that I wanted to be aphotojournalist because of compassion.

I first became a photographer way back in 1972-and successfully operated a studio for many years. We studied under some of the greats of the day: Stockwell, Gunn, and many others. Unfortunately, personal family issues, plus the big box stores undercutting my business along with the desire to spend time with my two children and husband figured into a huge sense of burnout and I quit photography except for photographing my children. Now, I’m testing the waters and relaunching my business- albeit with a big learning curve.

I’m not a “pro” photographer, but I have a nice camera that I’m learning to use. I love taking pictures of my kids, and other family/friends. My inspiration is the fact that pictures can capture beautiful moments that don’t last forever… but the pictures do.

I have always loved art in every form and was taught from an age younger than my 2 beautiful girls (4 and 2) to love photography by the kindest man I ever knew: my dad. His photography style was much the same as mine: to capture the casual moments; not the ones you pose and throw on a fake smile for – but the true moments that define who we are, where we have been, and what our hopes and dreams are…to capture what is in our hearts. He was always able to capture those feelings in his photography and I hope I can be even a shadow of the photographer – let alone the person – he was. Today, my girls inspire me every day to pick up my camera…I never want to miss a moment!

P.S. I have been coveting these bags – AND this lens – for a long time – what a gift!

I have been a photographer for almost 9 years now. It was never planned to happen. My senior year of college, I went in for a required BW photography course. I couldn’t be anymore confused or any less interested by the F stop and was that the same thing as aperture?! And the fact that we had to have our own 35mm film camera wasn’t helping. I bought my first camera, a Minolta Maxim for $250 off of half.com. Wow! I had no idea of the world that awaited. As my assignments to shoot starting coming for class, I started rounding up friends to be subjects, and had fun with it. But it was my photography teacher that INSPIRED me. He took an extra interest in my work, and it wasn’t long before he started encouraging me in my work. All summer after my class was over, he allowed me unlimited access to the darkroom, which fueled my passion even more. He believed in me when I had no belief in myself. (I wish I could have carried him everywhere with me since!) lol

I LOVE photography. I wish I would have stuck with it all the years since, but in the past year have been back into it and am growing in it.

Thank you for what you guys do! I have learned a lot of tech camera stuff on my own since, and your blog is a major part of that! Btw, I just got Photoshop, about to install it, and am looking forward to using your actions!!!

I’ve loved photography since I was just a kid with a disposable camera. I used to take spy shots, and plenty of photos of my family, Barbies and cats. I took classes with film photography in high school, but never really got into digital photography as more than a hobby until I started dating my (now) husband. I took my first photography class in August 2007. I did it as a hobby for a while. I did my first paid job, a wedding, in May 2011… SO hobbyist for almost 5 years and paid for 9 months.

I had to take the class as part of my Bachelor’s Degree. I fell in love with photography then and decided to turn my passion into a career shortly after.

Wow, what a wonderful idea As everyone is sharing their photography stories, I guess I’ll pitch in mine <3
I picked up photography almost a year ago, and it has done me worlds of good. It gives me a creative outlet, lets me go on wonderful adventures (and document them) and even helped repair my father and mine's relationship, as one thing we actually share common interest in. I got laid off earlier this week (a day before my birthday, ouch) so for the first time I will be printing out my photos to sell and try to get me by until summer comes and more job opportunities pick up. That's enough of my rambling

I studied photography about 12 years ago and have always done/loved it. Then I started my own business about 18 months ago when I was sick, at that time I thought you only live once, so why not follow your dreams and make the most of your talents. I absolutely love working as a photographer now and will never look back.
I would love a stylish ‘girly’ bag as the bag I’m using is pretty daggy and they’re soooo expensive to replace. I also need a better lense, I only have one that came with the camera and I’ve bee trying to save up for another, but never have that extra bit of cash for such an indulgence.

I am slowly but surely getting everything all sorted out and up and running! I love being able to capture those “Kodak moments” for people. Over 12 years ago when I was 14 I was convinced I was going to be a professional photographer for a skateboarding magazine. I am not sure what inspired me to start taking pictures but I have always loved it. My first camera was a red Canon Snappy and I took it with me everywhere. I have totes of pictures from school and the camera still works today. I have moved on though to a DSLR with other cameras in between. I’ve been a photographer for about a year. I have always had a love for it, I took a class in highschool. Then a few years ago I stumbled across a message board for moms and hobbyist photographers and I began saving to get my first DSLR. As soon as I got it I took advantage of every opportunity I had to learn more about the craft. I’ve taken online courses, purchased books, did a Photoshop class at my local community college and spend time every day looking online for new tutorials, tips, and inspiration. Please pick me!!!

Mess! I didn’t do that right. I am not a professional photographer, but I have been pretty serious about it for about 6 years now. I have had people tell me I should be though.
What was the other question? Hmmm. Something about inspiration I think. At first it was my children that inspired me, and they still do, but now it is just viewing the world in a different light and trying to find beauty in everything I see through my lens.

I am an amateur/hobbyist photographer. I have loved taking pictures for as long as I can remember and when my first child was born 11 years ago I began taking even more pictures. Of course then it waswith a 35mm film camera. By the time my daughter was born in 2008 I had a digital camera and was constanly taking her pictures and have since then upgraded to a more professional camera and taking Christmas and other special occasion photos for family members. I would like to eventually open my own studio and want to add some more lenses to my equipment. I get advice from photography friends and just continually practice with my camera and read lots of info on how to get the best shots. Just anything I can do to continually make my photography better. And this 50mm 1.4 lens is exactly what I need. I am so hoping I can win this giveaway!!

I started in photography when it was just film, but over time lost interest. My sister got into digital photography and looking at her pictures inspired me to start back up. A lot of new stuff to learn with digital. Have been back into it for about a year. Outdoor & nature shots are what I can do best for now. Love reading all you hints & edited shots. I still don’t consider myself a “photographer” – I still have so much to learn! But I’ve been a photo enthusiast for almost 6 or 7 years now. I love everything about catching special moments and preserving them to keep those memories alive. I’ve always had a very hard time remembering past experiences, pleasant or unpleasant. I love the way I can keep what little memories I have tucked away in an image to look back on anytime I like. One of my favorite things is to take pictures of people, process them, then send them back to the people and see their faces when they happily ask “I look like that?”. I love the smile when they see for a second how I see them. I like to capture beautiful moments on “film”, otherwise I’d forget.

I’ve been into photography for over 10 years now, and how sad is it that I don’t remember what sparked the interest… Just picked up a camera and loved how it felt in my hands I guess. Feels like I haven’t put it (a camera) down since. I have worked in an old time photo studio and also a professional portrait studio and a little on my own. From laughter to tears, it’s just an amazing thing to be able to freeze a moment in time… for a life time. I know most people are photographers because they love to make others happy in many different ways through their photography… But I’m a little more selfish than that, I am a photographer because I love to push myself and I love to challenge myself to get better and to try new things. Photography is such an endless world of possibilities and that just makes me happy. Now if others are happy because of what I capture for them well heck that’s just frosting on the cake I guess.

I have been taking pictures for years and last year my wonderful husband bought me my Canon camera! It has been SO much fun, but I only have one lens. We are expecting our first child in 6 weeks and this lens would be perfect to photograph our little bundle of joy!! And the bag would make an amazing accessory to carry it all in!!

When my husband and I had our fist daughter a little over 2 years ago we started picking up our point and shoot camera a bit more. Now that we have two little girls we shoot even more. My husband is the more talented one as far as photography! We are still saving up for a great camera but the bag and lens will be our final push if we win!!

I’ve been a wanna-be photographer for just under a year now, since I purchased my Canon Rebel XS. I got a fabulous Canon zoom lens (55-250mm) this past Christmas! My biggest inspiration for becoming a photographer is my friend, Chad. He takes amazing photos and I’ve been lucky enough to be one of his subjects for a few of his shoots. I think being in front of the camera helps with my vision behind the camera, and vice versa. Knowing both sides of the lens really helps clarify and remold your ideas/expectations/creativity! My next step is to get a wide angle lens! I would also love to get more practice shooting people and from there, build my own portfolio!

I have been a ‘photographer’ for more than two years, but I have loved capturing moments for as long as I can remember. I picked up a camera as a semi-professional shortly after my wedding in 2009 because I was disappointed in the quality and quantity of my wedding photos. The photog was a family friend and does great work, but I felt like they could have been so much more. I have been a photographer for a little over a year (in business) but have been taking pictures all of my life!! My father is a video producer and I always wanted to follow in his foot steps. But joined the Army instead! After being in the army for 8 years and experiencing an almost 2 year deployment to Iraq as a medic, I was done and needed something new. I have been a photographer since I was 14 years old.

My father has always taken pictures and inspired me to take them. I Received a camera for my 14th birthday, a canon ae-i manual. In the first few days I had gone through 12 rolls of film. I was hooked.

I started with my own lighting techniques, I had two best friends that I would dress up and have come over so I could take pictures of them.

I now do high fashion, family, weddings and anything under the sun photography wise.

It is such an art and my way of expression. Such a wonderful obsession.

I am just starting photography! I have been taking pictures for over 5 years, but now I have time and possibilities to truly invest in my passion. Memories are what have always inspired me to take pictures, be that of people, places, colors or even a name on a sign . Looking back at my pictures I invoke the thoughts, smells and emotions of that day or time. I try to translate what I am feeling through my pictures and when I have people as subjects I try to capture the moment for them.

I’ve been a photographer for a few years now and I just always remember going on adventures with my 35mm disposable camera. Once I got old enough (and the times were changing to digital cameras) I would wander with a point and shoot. I finally got my first DSLR and went for it. All or nothing. I now work as a photographer and LOVW everything about it! Just recently switched to a canon and I don’t think I’ll ever go back!

I’m an amateur photographer since way back when I carried around a 35mm point-and-shoot in my purse during high school. I love digital DSLs now since I can snap a shot and learn from my settings immediately.

I became a nature photographer in 2006. After suffering a severe depression, i stayed home alot, during that time i started feeding birds. There were these cute friendly birds called Carolina Chickadees, so small and not afraid to come so close to you, so trusting. Each day i became more enthralled with them, somehow birds and nature exploded in my life and brought me out from a very deep abyss that i didn’t think i would return from. All i wanted to do was capture the beauty from all of this life around me. Such small creatures fighting so hard to survive. Hence how photography and the love of capturing all these beautiful moments to remember forever, came to be….

I have been a photographer since 1999. I was a freshman in high school and dropped out of band. The only elective available in that slot was photojournalism. I fell in love, and through buying a camera I met the man who is now my husband. Photography has made my life wonderful.

I have been a professional photographer for almost 9 years! I became a photographer when I realized the importance of doing what you love. Loving your work is one of the biggest lessons life has taught me! It seems I always do things wrong the first time around. By the second time though, I know what I want! I’ve been a photographer for 7 years now. My children inspire me I love catching every moment. I’m a stay at home mom and have 1 that has graduated and now working and my baby girl will graduate this May and then headed for the Marines. Time goes by way to fast and for me being with my children was more important than having an extra job for our household. I don’t have the best equipment but what I have works for me.

I don’t know if you would consider me a “real” photographer, but I have been learning and playing for the past year. I was inspired to learn because I wanted to take better pictures of my knitwear, but now I have discovered this whole new realm of artistic expression. It’s addictive and wonderful.

my passed away when I was five years old and I was given his old Canon AE-1 when I turned 16…I’ve been hooked every since and only got serious after my son was born and could stop taking enough pictures of him
